There are several entry points by land route mainly from Nepal / Indian borders:
(a) Kakarvita, (b) Birgunj, (c) Bhairahawa , (d) Nepalganj , (e) Dhangadhi, ( f) Mahendranagar
Scheduled public as well as tourist buses run to and from Kathmandu. There is entry point from Tibet Boarder to Nepal if you are traveling through Tibet (China).
