Throughout The Country
Meter taxis can be hired off the street in Kathmandu and some of
the other major cities. Private vehicles give the maximum
freedom to visit remote places at your own pace with a minimum
of time and hassle. Private cars with drivers looking for work
are usually waiting in the narrow streets but they are more
expensive than taxis. Cars, Vans, Jeeps, Buses and 4 WDs for
sightseeing and traveling outside the city can be hired through

Rickshaws:
Rickshaws (two-seater tricycles) can be a fun way to see the
city. The fare should be negotiated beforehand. Mostly Rickshaws
are quite popular in Kathmandu city for short tour.
Buses:
A number of buses, mini buses set out after regular interval of
time to different places of the city. Long-distance buses to
different parts of Nepal leave from Central Bus Station (Gongobu).
There are regular tourist bus services for certain cities such
as Pokhara, Royal Chitwan National Park, Lumbini. Your seats can

Motorbikes:
Bikes are available for rent at several shops located in
different parts of the city. You may be asked for your passport
as a security deposit to hire a bike and you are responsible for
returning the bike in the same condition as you received it. The
roads are rough, and long journeys are more tiring than you
might expect. It's best to go slowly and stop for lots of tea
breaks. |
